Hi, I’m Abby Whitmire, and I’m running for Humble ISD Board of Trustees, Position 4.
I believe all children in Texas deserve a great, well-resourced school with respected and empowered teachers, regardless of where they live or how much money their family makes.
I have dedicated my life in service of others. In my career as a non-profit fundraiser, I worked tirelessly to promote the missions of my organizations. I have developed budgets, built relationships with community stakeholders, and successfully solicited donations from individuals, corporations, foundations, and government grants.
My most recent job was at The Posse Foundation in New Orleans, a youth leadership development and college access program. Posse partners with top colleges and universities around the country to offer four-year, full tuition merit leadership scholarships to outstanding public high school students, many of whom might have been overlooked by traditional college selection processes.
In 2014, my husband Brent and I moved to Kingwood with our son, William. After the move I decided to stay home with William and we have been enjoying the area ever since. We attend services at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, and we enjoy biking along the greenbelt with our dog Maggie, eating delicious Tex-Mex at Chachi's or Las Palomas, and playing at Kingwood Country Club.
